How long is “intensive” treatment?
The number of hours this takes varies based upon individual trauma histories. The ITR program schedule is flexible. It can be done virtually or in person. It can usually be completed in 20-30 hours, 2-6 hours per day, over a period of a week or two.
Adaptive Richmond Therapy also works hourly with clients based on their needs.
Adaptive Richmond Therapy’s practice hours are flexible with evening and weekend availability if needed.
Do you take insurance?
No. This is because insurance companies do not reimburse art therapy services in the state of Virginia. At your request, Adaptive Richmond Therapy will provide a receipt of services to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement or claim it on your taxes after paying for sessions out of pocket. It is important that you check with your provider prior to beginning services to determine your plan’s out-of-network coverage. Adaptive Richmond Therapy cannot guarantee reimbursement.
Some questions to ask your insurance provider:
- What out-of-network mental health services will my plan cover?
- What is my deductible? How much must I pay out of pocket before receiving reimbursement?
- How many sessions per year are allowed under my out-of-network coverage?
What if I’m not a good artist?
Regardless of artistic skill, everyone can benefit from art therapy and ITR. All sessions are tailored toward your needs and no artistic skill is required to participate in art therapy. The purpose of making art in session is to create imagery that will communicate your thoughts and feelings rather than creating something that looks “good.”
